MOTHER EARTH
vol. IX. August 1914 n° 6
CAPITALISM and GOVERNMENT eating up HUMANITY
illustration de Man Ray
au verso :
Man Ray (1890-1976) was a legendary American photographer, printer, Dadaist, Surrealist, expatriate and inonoclast. His sympathy with anarchism was substantial, as is suggested by this illustation for Mother Earth. Edited by Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman, Mother Earth was one of the most important anarchist journals in America. This drawing appeared on the cover August 1914 issue of the magazine, precisely the month when it became clear that the European war would reach world-wide proportions.
Drunken Boat is an anarchist magazine of literature and the arts. This is only one of many illustrated topics to appear in upcoming issues.
